11.12.2009 - Grönholm enters WRC Rally Sweden

Double World Rally Champion Marcus Grönholm enters WRC Rally Sweden which is driven in February. The Champion and his long-term co-driver Timo Rautiainen enjoys winterish rally with familiar Ford Focus RS WRC.

- Sweden has always been one of my favorite rally. During my "retirement time" I've had thoughts that one more time I would like to drive in legendary stage of Sågen. As now the opportunity took place I'm very thrilled about it, told Grönholm.

Long time ago Grönholm felt in love for special stage of Sågen. The love was so deep that after his active career he named his restaurant according the Swedish special stage.

- My goal is to be fighting for the victory. However we all must remember that nowadays I don't have same routine as the leading drivers has, but maybe in tests I'll catch up the touch again, Grönholm shares his thoughts.

Grönholm drivers as a team mate for Matthias Therman

Marcus and Timo drivers in Team Therminator rally team. Second driver for the team is another Flying Finn Matthias Therman.

- A while ago I was speding my holiday in northern Finland in a skiing centre called Levi. There I had chat with Therman about the idea and he was very exited about it. In a short period we were able to collect good team with team, shared Grönholm the idea.

In season 2009 Therman drove his first-ever World Rally event with Ford Focus RS WRC. He finished the rally in 15th position in overall classifications. Later in WRC Wales GB he was 18th in overall classifications with group N Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution rally car.

- I'm very happy to be able to drive as a team mate for World Rally Legend. Marcus still is a top driver and I therefore I strongly believe that I can learn a lot from his, told Therman who thinks he's just an amateur rally driver.

The cars and service Grönholm and Therman are using in WRC Rally Sweden comes from british Ford Manufacturer rally team M-Sport. Highly competitive rally car gives Grönholm a possibility to drive top positions.

Grönholm and Rautiainen have five times celebrated victory in WRC Rally Sweden. In seasons 2000, 2002 and 2003 they were fastest with Peugeot World Rally Car and in season 2006 and 2007 they took the highest podium with Ford.
